VNET5 Membership Agreement
The VNET5 project (IST-2000-25465) is funded by the IST programme of the European Commission and is scheduled to operate until January 2003.

Mission
The VNET5 project will advance the adoption of state-of-the-art approaches to user validation in Interactive Electronic Publishing projects in the IST programme and beyond.
Purpose
The VNET5 Thematic Network will serve as a forum to exchange experiences about user- and customer-oriented product creation in the electronic publishing domain.
VNET5 partners provide coaching to VNET5 members who are involved in Interactive Electronic Publishing projects of the IST programme.
Active participation of VNET5 members will help to evolve a common approach to user-centred product creation and to provide maximum benefit for all VNET5 members.

The VNET5 membership agreement defines the terms and conditions governing this membership. By joining as a VNET5 member, you agree to use the information received in accordance with the terms and conditions discussed below.

Contributions from VNET5 members
VNET5 members may be invited to report on user validation activities in their project and thereby share with other VNET5 members best practice of user validation.
VNET5 members are asked to participate in the collection of user requirements for electronic publishing applications.
Terms of VNET5 membership
VNET5 membership is available free of charge. It is open to individuals involved in electronic publishing projects.
VNET5 membership is available to anyone who joins the VNET5 thematic network and provides an accurate, legitimate electronic mail address, a mail address, the identification number and name of the IST project or a brief description of the motivation for becoming a member. The VNET5 member receives a unique login name and password. Each VNET5 member is allowed to have only one membership per legitimate electronic mail address. Membership is intended for personal use only and is non-transferable.
Confidentiality and Privacy
VNET5 partners ensure the confidentiality of all information received from VNET5 members and will never release the name or other personal information about a VNET5 member without the permission of that member, but reserves the right to distribute aggregated statistical information provided by VNET5 members.
Copyrighted Material
All material on the VNET5 web site, including, without limitation, text, software, photos, video, graphics, are protected by international copyright laws, both as individual works and as a collection. VNET5 members may download or use material protected by copyright provided by VNET5 for personal use. Members may not copy, reproduce, retransmit, distribute, publish, commercially exploit, or otherwise distribute any such copyrighted material in any format, electronic or otherwise.
Termination of VNET5 membership
VNET5 may terminate membership at any time, without notice, for conduct that violates this membership agreement or other policies set out by the VNET5 partners and the EC.
This agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the parties with respect to the subject matter contained herein and supersedes any other agreements, proposals and communications, written or oral, between VNET5 partners and members. The VNET5 partners may amend this agreement at any time with notice from VNET5 to the member as published on the VNET5 web site.
Limitations of Liability and Warranty
The VNET5 member agrees that the use of information provided by the VNET5 partners and at the VNET5 web site is entirely at the member's own risk. VNET5 material is provided on an "as is" basis without warranties of any kind, either expressed or implied. Furthermore, neither VNET5 partners nor the EC makes any warranty with respect to any content, information, or support provided through or in conjunction with the VNET5 project.
The VNET5 member specifically agrees that material provided by the VNET5 project (at VNET5 sessions, VNET5 weeks, in individual VNET5 coaching meetings, and at the VNET5 web site) is not liable for any conduct by VNET5 members.
